The use of taxi apps in Kenya has been a convenient way for people to get around without the hassle of public means.
There are various apps in Kenya which are downloadable to our mobile phones to allow us to track drivers, routes, rates and time of arrival of the said cab/taxi.
Here at Trend, we will help you know which cabs you can board whenever you need one (a list below).
UBER
Uber is one of the most common taxi apps in Kenya and it has been around since 2015.
It is a worldwide app, meaning, you can request for a ride in any country using the same app.
Uber has 3 packages: ChapChap, Boda and UberX.
BOLT
This was formerly called Taxify and it is also a very popular app for taxi use.
The app was among the first ones to be launched after Uber and it operates across many towns in Kenya.
Bolt is also available in other countries such as Rwanda, South Sudan and Tanzania.
LITTLE CAB
Formerly Lite Taxi, Little Cab is more or less a replica of Uber but with slight differences.
Little Cab is operational only in areas where the drivers are located, but you cannot request for a ride in another town.
JIMCAB
This is a private transportation company with ore than just taxi services. They also include car hire services, car wash services and auto repairs.
For their taxi services, they offer a range of vehicles for the 4-seater and 6-seater categories
INDRIVER
This cab service operates in Kisumu, Eldoret, Mombasa and Nairobi and one can use it to book a cab on demand.
The difference with other apps is that it allows customers to set a cost for their desired ride and drivers in turn bid for the customers.
SWVL
Matatus are the most common means of transport in Kenya, and it was only befitting to have a public matatu hailing app.
Swvl provides Kenyans with this option where they request a bus ride at their location and pay using Mpesa.
The matatus are of course trackable as it comes towards you for pick-up.
