MPesa is used by more people daily for personal and professional transactions. But, as we all know, there are times when you could make a mistake and want to go back and cancel a purchase. Thankfully, it’s now possible to do that.
Use the M-Pesa Super App or the mySafaricom App to lessen the likelihood that you will make mistakes when processing a transaction. Activate permissions to utilize the mentioned paybills and access Contacts.
If you want reverse MPesa transaction, you can do so using several techniques:
- If you completed a transaction on the M-Pesa App, you could tap reverse immediately.
- Text message
- Call Customer Care
- contact customer care through social media
Reverse MPesa via Text:
The simplest and quickest way to start reversal requests for M-Pesa is via text.
1. Immediately you realise you’ve made a mistake, copy the entire message you receive.
2. Send the text to the number 456
3. You will receive a message from Safaricom “Reversal” that you’ve initiated a reversal request.
4. Your request should be completed within the next 2 hours.
5. Safaricom says, “You are encouraged to check your messages for an update from the header “Reversal” on the reversal status.”
Call Customer Care:
This is yet another particular approach to confirm if your reversal is in motion.
1. Call 100 if you’re on Prepaid and 200 if you’re on Postpay.
2. Select the option to speak to a Safaricom customer Care Agent
3. You will be asked questions to verify your identity and the number you mistakenly sent money to.
4. Agent will let you know details on reversal and when to expect resolution.
Via Social Media:
Due to the numerous accounts and bots trying to defraud you today, this is a tricky method. So check that you’ve tweeted or messaged the correct Safaricom accounts. Verify that they display the VERIFIED tick.

2. Tell them your issue and share the Transaction Message
3. You will be advised on how to proceed and when resolution can be expected.
